Happy 4th of July!
What do you do for the 4th of July in Switzerland? Well, whatever you want, really. Since it's (of course) not a holiday here I decided to make a quick - as in let's try to beat the big thunderstorm coming in over the mountains - walk to the grocery store to get some "American" fixins' for dinner.
Since I don't have a grill, they have no idea what hot dogs are here, and my friends were all away for the weekend; I decided to make hamburg's on the stove with some oven fries. I even bought some actual hamburger buns at the store. Impressive, eh? I debated on getting a small watermelon but the price and thought of lugging it back home made me choose 3 oranges instead.
However, I went all American in my chocolate taste today and bought a Nestle Crunch. Not that the actual chocolate bar was made in the USA but it reminded me of home (and Mom, since it's her favorite candy bar).

Thanks to Dad, I had some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce for my burger and we even had Heinz ketchup in the fridge that we had bought here. So, it all turned out as close to "normal" as possible. Not bad for Switzerland. No fireworks but I'm sure I can find some online somewhere tomorrow.
PS - Mandi comes back tomorrow, I cannot wait!
I also found a great photo editing site online today that is FREE, has some fun editing features, and you don't have to sign up to use it. It's called Picnik and you can check it out at www.picnik.com and here's a few of the things I did today. Just for fun.
