Last Trip in Switzerland???

This past weekend Matthew, Andrea, and I took a day trip to the northeast section of Switzerland. I really had no clue what the day would hold as I was more along for the ride and to go somewhere I hadn't been before. We went to St. Gallen and then took a small train to a very Swiss village called Appenzell. On the journey home we took a route so that they could surprise me with a trip to see the Rheine Falls. It was a great day, very long (I got up at 5:15am and to bed at midnight) but totally worth it!

So, I figure the best way to show the day is with pictures.....Enjoy! PS - Matthew took the photos with me in them, so the credit goes to him.

(I saw this team and made a beeline for them.)

(Matthew & Andrea on the amazing stonework by the church in Appenzell.)

(Inside the church - this is now my 2nd favorite church in Switzerland. I liked the side walls better than the front though.)

(The ceiling above the organ.)

(Outside of the church.)

(Me being a "complete tourist" that day!)

(This is the British couple from Manchester that I met in front of the toy store. They were there with a tour group.)

(This was the weirdest thing we saw by the river. The table would lift up and shoot out water at random times....not the best spot to have lunch for an unsuspecting couple!)

Then we took the little red train back down to St. Gallen to see the famous church and Library there. They were both very impressive, but I could only take pictures in the church, sorry. The Library had illuminated manuscripts dating back from the 600's and Middle Ages! Incredible.

(All inside the huge catholic church.)

(Matthew got this shot of me taking a picture of the back of the cross because in the Gospel that I know, Christ has risen from the cross and that is what we need to see - not him still on the cross (like on this side). Which is why I took this next picture......

"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He live, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart."

(Then we stopped by the Rheine Falls on our way home. That was a great surprise that Andrea planned for me.....I'd wanted to see them.)

(Saw this cool horse statue by the train station in St. Gallen. What a great idea to make it like Pipi Longstocking.....just in case you didn't know. ha ha)

(To end, the stinky (at least I think so) cheese that Appenzell is famous for!)

Oh, and my exams went well. I passed and am now officially at the level I need to be at for Cameroon. I leave on June 24th! And then a whole new adventure awaits.
