Lesson Review

Just a quick post to tell you what I'm learning in school. It's like being in kindergarten again, really. With about the same mental capacity as a 6 year old at times! Today we reviewed colors, geography, introductions, and describing ourselves to each other. Sounds easy right?

Well, to tell you how it went for me........I said "I have American" and "I am the United States" for starters. Then it was trying to say I have auburn "hair," not auburn "horses" since the two words sound very much alike. And lest we forget geography, let's just say I can't believe I won the Geography Bee in 8th grade. I think it was a fluke! (And to believe I was "runner-up" in 7th grade, I must have been much smarter back then.) The teacher even made a comment that "Americans" weren't very good at world geography. I agreed whole-heartedly! So just imagine that lack of knowledge and trying to spit out "capitals" of different countries in a language you hardly know. It wasn't one of my finer moments.

I guess you have to be willing to give yourself a break while learning a language. Good thing I know how to laugh at myself! I also like to imagine myself actually having normal conversations with people in a few months.......I'll just keep dreaming that!
