Neuchatel is the town where I am living in Switzerland and where my school is located. It's roughly the size of Zeeland, I believe. I walk from my apartment to school and it takes about 20 minutes. The nice thing is that it's downhill on the way to school, of course that means I have to lug myself back
UP said hills on the way home. I figure I'm just preparing for all the walking I'll do in Cameroon.

This is what the streets have been like since I've been here. Mostly ice. The sidewalks are worse but so many people were falling and ending up in the hospital that they are finally doing something more about it. It's been so cold here that the ice isn't melting and they don't want to use a lot of salt because of the effect it has on the lake. (I'll add a picture of the lake later) So, what to do??? They make the used Christmas trees into small bark and put it on the sidewalks for traction and they send out the city workers with shovels & ice picks to attack the main sidewalks.
Merci beaucoup to those guys!
In the above picture, Carlos & Julie decided just to slide down the street instead of walking down the small path on the left. I chose the path as I really didn't want to end up in the hospital on my 3rd day in country.

The city is located on the side of a mountain/hill. From the window in my room I can see the Alps in the distance, but it has been too cloudy for a
really good view yet, maybe Spring.
I'm meeting new people every day and many other missionaries headed to Africa. I've had 3 days of French classes and my brain gets really tired by the end, but it is starting to make more sense. It's just hard to make conversation with people when you only know a few questions and your vocabulary consists of words like: key, dog, suitcase, soap, pen, chair, table, etc.
I figure it will come and am trying not to stress about it...just do as much as I can and listen to as much as I can. Things will be a lot different a month from now, I'm sure. Oh, and it's great having 2 other people in the class with me - then I get a bit of a break!
